Hard to find parts for your E52

I recently called up my local Nissan dealer in the UK to enquire about a spare part for my Elgrand.  The person I spoke with was helpful and found the part number on his system and I was keen to order the part.  He explained that the part would take possibly 10 weeks to arrive and even that wasn't guaranteed, it could take even longer.  Not sure about you, but that sounds way too long to wait especially for a small part.

After searching for alternatives, I found an amazing parts supplier who will supply Nissan parts direct from Japan to your door.  JP-Carparts provide schematics of different parts of the car (drivetrain, electricals, etc) and each part on the schematic is then listed in a table below it that shows the part number, which model/year it fits and the price.

I have already purchased a few items from them and they arrived via DHL 5-10 days after I purchased them.  The website is a bit old fashioned, you have to submit an enquiry for the part you are looking for, they will then reply with an invoice (if the part is in stock at Nissan) that includes shipping.  You pay and hey presto they ship it out very quickly!

Just select your model from the list for example mine is a PE52.  Then you click from the options of:

  • Electrical
  • Chassis / Power train / Brake
  • Engine / Fuel
  • Body / Trim
  • Carlife / AJ parts
You are then presented with various areas of the car.  The site is a bit slow sometimes, but its worth the wait as you can find the long parts numbers (i.e the xxxxx-yyyyy ones).  You can then search locally using the long part numbers, and if you can't find it local you can then order from Japan.

Elgrand E52 MPG - How bad is it really

One of the first questions asked by any prospective Elgrand owner is what fuel economy is like, and there is quite a lot of discussion about the E51's economy, but very little about the E52.  I have kept a log of my fuel and mileage which might be helpful to you as an idea of what you are likely to get.  Be warned though, it might not be pleasant reading! English Stereo Replacement (Xanavi system)

 As a new owner of the E52 one of the very first upgrades that is required is to update the audio system.  As a Japanese only car the Elgrand has no settings to change the language so you are stuck with the Japanese speech and text, so unless you know the language it is a priority to resolve!  There are range of options to choose from but they all have compromises, all range in price and all have a varied level of difficulty.  I will cover some of the options you could go for in a future post, but for now this update is about the one I selected. There is a company in Lithuania who offer replacement car audio boxes for us Elgrand drivers which is a real Nissan solution, it is easy to fit and you wouldn't know that it wasn't fitted at the factory.  It is a bit more expensive than some of the other options but I felt it was worth the extra money.
